Knowing Yourself

We are trying to know everything, analyzing, constantly seeking for explanations, absorbing knowledge like a sponge. We all are looking for answers, everywhere. Yet, most answers are not found without, but within.

Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habit. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

Lao Tzu (or any of many other credited authors)

You create your own destiny by watching yourself, knowing yourself and letting the knowing transcend to accepting. Once you accept yourself, you are in control. Thoughts are very powerful, yet they are just a tool; a way of your body to tell you what it needs. Thoughts arise, thoughts pass. Some are important, some are not; and most of them are probably repetitive. You control your thoughts, and so you control your actions.

There is nothing wrong with analyzing or seeking for explanations, this is the way our mind works. But sometimes it’s a tightrope walk between obsession and rationality. So rather than judging, expecting and regretting, how about more focus on watching, accepting and reacting? This will lead to true happiness.
