Guideline
Our guiding principle, find out more about the 3 R's
The 3 R’s
We believe that the 3 R‘s, reduce, reuse, recycle, bear the key to eco-friendliness. One must overcome personal desires to reduce consumption, reuse existing products and finally, if inevitable, recycle. In an ideal world, trash does not exists, only recyclable goods. Mother nature is our immemorial model and guide.
Every section of the pyramid stands for one of the 3 R’s. The more towards the top we go, the more desirable and more important that section is. That is why we are using a reverse pyramid to illustrate this idea.
In the current collective human state of mind, recycling awareness and responsibility is improving everyday. That is a good thing, it surely is better than trashing. But as you can see, recycling is the least desirable of the three 3’s. Recycling is the first step, but there’s still a long way to go. We believe together we can make a difference, transform the human mindset to the next level and slowly walk towards that ideal world.
Now let’s talk a little bit more about the three sections in detail. Scroll down for more information, or click on the pyramid.
Reduce
The first and by far most important principle of the pyramid is to reduce. This concerns any aspect, from consumerism, industrialization, environmental pollution, overfishing of our oceans, to endless economical growth. There are many examples.
In a first step, Live Green will primarily focus on the reduction of consumption, specifically the use of unnecessary wrappings and packaging. Most of our current projects and products focus on this particular aspect. Mindless consumption and excessive trashing go hand-in-hand and are a major cause of the whole wasting chain.
An important tool that we use to work towards reducing is minimalism. Adopting a minimalist and green lifestyle is a great way to reduce the human footprint on this planet. The more people join in, the more impact we have. You will find plenty of information regarding this subject in our discover section on this website.
Reuse
Short-lived and disposable single use products are a phenomena of our modern age, a perfect reflection of the consumerism mindset. We are convinced that this has to stop, we have to take a step back to rediscover joy in reusing.
The wasteful lifestyle is strongly coined by the excessive availability and choice of products, such as the rapid market growth. A trendy product from last year is already overhauled today, or even broken already, and needs apparent replacement. With that in mind, products even designed to be short-lasting. This path is not sustainable, a change is necessary.
We provide information for avoiding non-reusable products, reusability awareness, aid in reusing existing products and offer products with a long life-span and many reuses to avoid unnecessary wasting and trashing.
Recycle
Eventually anything will reach that point where it is no longer needed and served its purpose. That is the moment when that item should be recycled, its resources made available for the next purpose. This process is indefinite.
We want to help decreasing non- or only partially recyclable goods, encourage to take more care of recycling habits and improve the recycling process as a whole. We strive for a future where the need for mining new resources gradually diminishes close to zero. However, at this point Live Green does not actively pursue any big plans towards this goal. The focus is particularly on the reducing.
