About the Truthbrush
The brand was launched in 2018 by two friends, Catherine and Catherine, who are based in Devon, UK. With their combined expertise as a hospital doctor and a buyer they designed a toothbrush which is not only healthy and practical to use, but is also responsibly produced and looks great in the home too.
About The Material and Sustainability
Bamboo Toothbrush with Castor Oil Bristles – Medium Pink is made from 100% natural bamboo, one of the most sustainable resources available on the planet. Some bamboo species can grow at an incredible rate of up to 90 centimetres a day, thereby providing large yields on small areas. Bamboo is naturally smooth, clean and beautiful, while at the same time being very light, strong and durable. The material will decompose in a matter of years, leaving no trash behind. One interesting fact about bamboo is that it is actually a grass type, and therefore possesses no growth rings or sap like common trees do.
The Truthbrush is a sustainable and beautiful toothbrush with a bamboo handle that is fully biodegradable, yet has a luxurious, warm feeling. Each Truthbrush is hand wrapped in tissue paper and a recyclable cardboard pillow pack. Truthbrush is cruelty-free and vegan.

About the handle
The handle is crafted from sustainable, organic bamboo which is naturally antibacterial and has a rounded, ergonomic shape. With its natural antibacterial and antifungal properties, bamboo is hygienic for use in the bathroom too. The handle is made of Moso bamboo which is grown organically in China. To add a splash of colour the bamboo handle is dipped in an eco-friendly, water-based paint.
About the bristles
The brushes come with soft or medium bristles, which are 62% castor oil based to care for your teeth and gums. The adult Truthbrushes we sell have medium white bristles, while the tiny Truthbrush has soft transparent bristles (as recommended by dentists). The interdental brushes have 100% BPA-free nylon bristles, since castor oil bristles are not commercially available in this size.
Care & Disposal
Most dental professionals recommend changing your toothbrush every 3 months (although we know the Truthbrush lasts much longer than that).
Don’t leave the toothbrush standing in water or excessively wet after usage, otherwise the bamboo might grow mould. Once the brush is worn out, dispose of it by placing in your ordinary bin. If you wish to discard of it with the green waste, we recommend to pull out the bristles with a pair of pliers. However, over time all but the bristles will also biodegrade, leaving no residue. Alternatively, you can re-use the toothbrush or just the handle in any creative way you can think of. Shoe sole cleaners, plant canes and paint stirrers are just some examples of how you can give your brush a second life.
