What is Furoshiki?
Furoshiki Kata Kata Sea Otters Blue is a piece of square towel that people from Japan have been using to wrap gifts and carry groceries for generations. Due to its unique pattern, size and weaving style, this 100% high quality cotton towel can be used in a variety of different ways.
About the artist
Furoshiki Kata Kata Sea Otters Blue was designed by Chie Takai, daughter of Nobuyuki Takai, a pupil of Japanese National Treasure Keisuke Serizawa. Chie Takai is a renowned Japanese stencil artist, known under her artist name Kata Kata. The name is derived from Kata-e-zome, which is Japanese method of dyeing fabrics using a resist paste applied through a stencil.
How can I use Furoshiki?
The Furoshiki can be used as strong shopping bag using either a two or three knot method (see instructional video to learn how). The bag size and handles can instantly be adjusted to suit your needs.
