- Handmade Matcha bowl «Matchawan» Handmade Matcha bowl from fireclay with glaze finishing that is shaped according to centuries’ old Japanese tradition from Kyoto. Matchawan is the traditional bowl used in the Japanese tea ceremony and makes matcha preparation very easy. When whisking Matcha with a bamboo whisk (Chasen) the tall vertical walls of the Matchawan help to prevent the water from spilling. The broad bottom of the bowl makes it easy to whisk the powder smoothly inside and quickly obtain the perfect froth on the surface.
- Matcha Spoon «Chasaku» The matcha spoon (chashaku) is an integral part of the matcha tea ceremony. It is made by hand of bamboo and used to measure matcha powder accurately.
- Matcha Bamboo Whisk «Chasen» Traditional bamboo whisk or “Chasen” is an indispensable tool of the Japanese Matcha tea ceremony. The fine, handmade prongs are carved out of a single piece of bamboo. Chasen is used to which Matcha to obtain the ideal frothy texture.

Traditional Matcha Tea Ceremony
In Japanese, the way of preparing tea is called “temae”, which could be considered as a form of peaceful martial arts. As such, the form is very important.-
- Pour hot water into the bowl and rinse and heat the whisk inside. Make sure it has no splinters, and let the water soften the bristles.
- Discard the water used and rinse the bowl
- Add two spoonfuls of matcha to the bowl with the teaspoon
- Pour in 50ml of 80 C° hot water from a kettle
- Whisk the mixture to create foam. You should whisk in the shape of the ltter “M” or “W”. The bubbles will make the tea smoother and taste milder.
- Once enough foam has formed, the tea is ready. Carefully place the whisk in the tea bowl, scrape the sides once and let it rest there.
